Food Regulation
Orafti® inulin and oligofructose are food ingredients, not food additives. They can be labelled as 'dietary fibre' in practically every country around the world. A specific AOAC method of analysis was developed (AOAC 997.08) to accurately measure the content of inulin and oligofructose. In most countries, their caloric values are confirmed as being in the range of 1.5 to 2 kcal/g.
Products containing Orafti® inulin and oligofructose can also claim certain health benefits, including improving digestive health, taking care of the balance of your intestinal microflora, increasing calcium uptake, improving bone health and promoting intestinal function. Official rules about the use and exact wording of these claims vary from country to country.
Local regulations have to be followed when referring to the health benefits or nutritional properties of foods on packaging and/or advertising.
Our experts will provide you with complete guidance on the regulatory requirements in each individual country.
